JOBOBIKE Battery for Eddy 48V 14Ah

Eddy's battery is a hidden lithium-ion battery with LG cells. One of the most important features of the battery is that it has double current protection. This means there is no risk of explosion or combustion. The BMS (Battery Management System) monitoring protects the battery from overcharging and overheating during charging.

How to take care of the electric bicycle battery?

The battery of an electric bicycle is one of its most important components, without which an e-bike would not be an electric bicycle. It is worth taking care of it so that it can maintain its properties for as long as possible. This is because it is one of the most costly parts of an electric bicycle.

How to take care of the lithium-ion battery?

We write about the lithium-ion battery because it is the best type of battery among all those used in electric-assist bicycles. JOBOBIKE bicycles are equipped with just this type of battery. Here are some important tips to ensure that your favorite e-bike's battery will retain its full capacity for longer.

1. Do not leave a charging battery unattended.

As soon as you see that the battery is fully charged, disconnect it from the charger.

2. Charge the battery only with a charger dedicated to the battery.

When you buy an electric bicycle, you get a set of necessary tools and accessories along with it. Among them is a charger dedicated to charging the battery your e-bike is equipped with. Remember to use only it to charge the battery. If it happens that the original charger gets damaged or simply gets lost, contact the manufacturer of your bike.

3. Do not store the battery at very high or very low temperatures.

The optimal storage temperature for the battery is between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius.

4. Do not discharge the battery completely.

It is recommended to recharge the battery when the charge level drops to 20% - 30% of capacity

5. Keep the battery charged.

During the period when you do not use your e-bike for a long time, regularly check the charge level of its battery. It should be at least 60% of capacity. If the charge level drops, recharge the battery to 60% - 80%.

Are electric bikes waterproof?

JOBOBIKE electric bicycles have water-resistant wiring and can also be ridden in rainy weather. However, there are some rules to follow when riding in the rain, as well as after returning home from such a ride, in order to enjoy your ebike longer.

1. Install fenders.

Fenders protect not only you, but also your bike from water and mud. And a clean bike is a bike that will serve you longer. On the JOBOBIKE, fenders are installed at the factory on all models except the JOBOBIKE BRUNO. However, you will buy fenders for this bike separately.

2. Avoid riding over puddles and potholes.

Riding over puddles and potholes is great fun, but only if you have the right bike. If your vehicle is a city e-bike, try to avoid bumpy forest paths, where your unicycle can be damaged. Deep puddles can prove dangerous. True, the batteries are splash-proof, but not immersion in water. At JOBOBIKE, however, we have e-bike models in which the battery is completely hidden in the frame, and thus water is not afraid of it! We are talking about the EDDY and EDDY X bikes. If you love riding in harsh conditions, these e-bikes will be a great choice.

3. Clean the bike after riding.

Be sure to wipe your bike dry after a ride in rainy weather. If your e-bike is dirty from mud, first wash it with clean water and then wipe it with a dry cloth. Also clean the chain and make sure there are no traces of sand and mud left on the bike.

4. Do not charge the battery when the bike is wet.

Make sure the bike and battery are dry before connecting the battery to the charger. Electricity and water are not the best combination.

5. Avoid long rides during a downpour.

JOBOBIKE e-bikes have rainproof cables, but a long ride during very intense rainfall may damage the electronic parts of your unicycle.

Is it possible to overcharge the e-bike battery?

Overcharging a lithium-ion battery is possible when the battery is connected to the charger for too long. However, this only applies to batteries that do not have a BMS.
